This Yidaki is a specialist instrument that well suits to amplification because of its extremely intense and cutting edge. When the edge is pushed it gains a crisp, metallic 'rattly' graininess that feels very 'digital'. Because this instrument lacks a full resonant presence, it makes it much more versatile for amplification. This didj is surprisingly loud for its low air requirements and has slightly high backpressure. It is responsive with very good vocal projection and will suit all playing levels except the beginner. Aesthetically, it presents beautifully with the contrast between dark wood grain and the whites in the artwork.
